This single-family dwelling is located in a newly developing urban expansion area on the outskirts of Ja\u00e9n, a context devoid of significant landscape or architectural references. Confronted with this condition of urban anonymity, the project adopts an introspective logic, resulting in a domestic space that turns inward\u2014closing itself off from its immediate surroundings and instead oriented towards an internal void conceived as a domestic oasis. This central courtyard emerges not only as an organizing element but as the true heart of the project: a space for retreat, enjoyment, and climatic regulation. <\/p>\n

The house is structured across a ground and first floor, articulated in an L-shaped configuration that clearly defines the functional zoning. One wing of the volume houses the guest area, while the other concentrates the primary day-to-day living spaces. At the junction of these two wings is located the main living room\u2014a double-height space that acts as a spatial and visual hinge. This effect is reinforced formally by an inclined roof, which mediates between the single- and double-storey volumes, enriching both the interior spatial perception and the relationship with the courtyard. <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The dwelling focuses its gaze and daily life inward, toward the central courtyard, a space defined by the presence of a swimming pool as its central and symbolic element. The pool becomes a visual anchor for the main interior spaces, orchestrating a continuous sequence of indoor and outdoor experiences. The built mass steps back to generate generous overhangs\u2014tectonic ovoids\u2014that function as transitional voids capable of passively regulating the thermal conditions of the inhabited spaces: they shield the interior from high summer sun while allowing solar heat gain during the lower-angled winter months. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Only the gym breaks with this introspective logic by opening outward. However, it does so through a filtering architectural lattice that ensures privacy while reinforcing the abstract and restrained character of the house\u2019s formal language\u2014clearly contrasting with the heterogeneous and nondescript aesthetic of the surrounding urban environment. <\/p><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

After 20 years at our headquarters in Realejo, the time had come for a change.<\/p>\n

And we decided to make a radical change, move from a duplex located on Mauror hill to a small social house-patio from the 60s in a popular neighborhood of Granada, Los Vergeles.<\/p>\n

Typologically it is a terraced house with two floors, alternating a row with a front garden and a backyard with another row with direct access from the street and a backyard. The office is located in this second typology, with a more commercial vocation, with access from Calle Violetas, which has the character of a semi-private space as it is sized to provide exclusive service to the inhabitants of the houses that surround it.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The design of the houses offers a very clear example of the rational architecture of the time:<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Simplicity is the common link in the materials and construction solutions used.<\/p>\n

The refurbishment project tries to value all this. It starts from a building that has undergone numerous reforms over time, undermining its original conception. Therefore, the renovation will be in charge of cleaning and enhancing the original values of the property.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Take advantage of the intervention on the fa\u00e7ade to improve the energy efficiency of the property and propose a language that makes the building stand out from the surrounding without losing sight of the solutions for the environment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The ground floor has the public spaces of the studio, taking advantage of the direct relationship with the street. It is proposed to compartmentalize the space using mobile shelves, in such a way that the space can be adapted to the different uses that are needed.<\/p>\n

The upper floor will be the work area, with more privacy and better sunlight. The furniture has been designed to adapt to the existing space in order to make the best use of it.
