Refurbishment building for Hotel

It is a XIX century building sites in the most central place of Granada. It is a small old building, just 500 sqm size, with two facades: The shortest one to Bibarrambla Square and the longest one to Zacatin street. Its simple configuration , only one bay in addition to the stairs, makes a very difficult refurbishment when you want to change the current use the developer.

The project comes from a very long process. It is started at 2004, when a different developer wanted to build a apartments building. A few months before we finished the works on site, this company sold the building to another one. The new company wanted a hotel instead of the apartments. So we had to develop a different project trying to keep as much as possible of the previous project.

The most important difference between the old and new use is the size of the lift. This element will predetermine the rest of the floor.

The idea was : “ you sum and you go on”. That means knowing what to do looking at building memory. We showed the old and hide stone pilasters on the ground level, even the old brand labels. The finishings were similar as the existing materials.

The Hotel and restaurant project allowed us to design all the details.
